In 2021, the remote work trend was established as a viable and necessary new way to work. Global Workplace Analytics calculates that 25 to 30% of the workforce worked remotely in 2021.

What was at first an emergency adaptation came to be an advantageous, costly-effective way to work. It allowed global professionals to surge and interchange collaboration in a completely new dimension without even leaving their bedrooms.

Contract-based hiring was in high-demand in 2021, because hiring per project simplified the access to skills in the digital realm. 

In the talent side, being able to work for diverse projects in different companies offers a huge learning opportunity and valuable work experience.

3 – Employee Wellbeing

Mental health awareness in the workplace was a very debated topic in 2021, because 9 in 10 employees report that their workplace stress affects their mental health, and 3 in 5 employees are not receiving adequate support from supervisors to help manage stress (Mental Health America).

Employee wellbeing also became a great indicator of health for business, as it relates to turnover and productivity rates.

4 – Diversity and inclusion

Another great theme in digital recruiting for 2021 was the pursuit for increasing diversity in the companies and the effort for designing an inclusive workplace

Corporations identified as more diverse and inclusive are 35% more likely to outperform their competitors (McKinsey), 70% more likely to capture new markets (HBR) and 87% better at making decisions. (People Management).

Taking good care of your candidate experience has paid off in 2021. The power of a good employer brand made all the difference in the dispute for the best digital talent. 

According to Glassdoor, 86% of employees and job seekers research company reviews and ratings to decide on where to apply for a job, and 75% of active job seekers are likely to apply to a job if the employer actively manages its employer brand.
